PAIRS HEAD of the RIVER

Please note: The River will be CLOSED during racing.

The course is DOWNSTREAM this year with the tide.

COURSE: UNIVERSITY STONE (MORTLAKE) to HAMMERSMITH BRIDGE ˜2½ miles

TIME: 12.15pm (CREWS TO BE IN POSITION BY 12.00noon)

The race will be rowed in the following divisions:

DIVISION 8 Men's Veteran "B" Coxless Pairs

DIVISION 9 Men's Senior II Coxless Pairs

DIVISION 10 Men's *Veteran (Handicap) Double Sculls

DIVISION 11 Mixed Double Sculls

DIVISION 12 Women's Open Double Sculls

DIVISION 13 Women's Senior II Double Sculls

DIVISION 14 Women's Open Coxless Pairs

DIVISION 15 Women's Open Coxless Pairs

DIVISION 16 Women's Senior II Coxless Pairs

DIVISION 17 Men's *Veteran (Handicap) Coxless Pairs

*Veteran (Handicap) crews will be placed according to their actual time but the pennant will be presented to the crew with the fastest adjusted time. For information on the Veteran Handicap system, see page 172 in the 2000 Rowing Almanack. [Note: Men's Veteran Handicap events 10 & 17 are for Vet."C" and above only, the Women's Veteran Handicap Double Sculls is for Vet."B" and above only]

HM Forces Pennants will be awarded to the fastest Services men's and women's coxless pairs regardless of ARA status. The HMF pennants are provided by the Joint Services Rowing Committee and administered under their rules. Eligible entries should be annotated 'HMF'.

NO CREW MAY WIN MORE THAN ONE DIVISION

As far as possible, crews will be started in last year's finishing order, followed by new entries in alphabetical order, by division.

Important notice:  All visiting crews must obtain permission from the Clubs they intend to boat from, plus they must advise the event where they are boating from (please add to entry form). Please avoid boating from Putney as new Parking restrictions apply, your co-operation in this matter is essential. (If you require any help in this matter please contact entries secretary.)

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: 9pm Saturday 30th September

Fully documented and paid up entries only will be accepted - NO telephone or e-mail entries will be taken.

ENTRY FEE: £16 per Crew; plus £12.00 day registration fee for each unregistered competitor. Cheques should be made payable to PAIRS HEAD OF THE RIVER. In the event of cancellation of the race due to bad weather the fee will not be returnable.

Pennants and individual LIDDED POTS will be presented to the crew of the fastest boat finishing the course in each division as long as a minimum of three boats have entered that division and two have competed.
